Job description

Job Summary:
General Informatics is seeking a Senior Network Engineer who will serve as the subject matter expert for network and security technologies. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable network solutions while overseeing network design, implementation, and security management.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement network solutions in Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments
• Configure and maintain network hardware including switches, routers, and firewalls
• Deploy and manage security solutions including IDS/IPS systems
• Implement network automation and scripting solutions
• Optimize network performance and reliability
• Lead security incident response and investigation
• Manage intrusion detection and prevention systems
• Implement and maintain network security controls
• Perform security analysis and monitoring
• Ensure compliance with security standards
• Ability to interface with technical and non-technical customers
• Act as escalation point for complex network issues
• Mentor and train team members on network technologies
• Maintain technical documentation and procedures
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies
• Coordinate with third-party vendors
• Monitor network performance and availability
• Perform network updates and maintenance
• Manage network capacity and growth
• Implement disaster recovery solutions
• Optimize network costs and efficiency
• Complete accurate timesheets
• Participate in training and development
• Support special projects as needed
• Consistently demonstrate 'Can Do, Will Do' attitude
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
• 6+ years experience with enterprise network technologies
• 5+ years hands-on solution deployment experience
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud technologies
• Experience with security tools and analysis
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Network protocols (BGP, IGRP, DNS, VRRP, etc.)
• Security tools (i.e. Wireshark, Snort, nmap)
• SIEM platforms (i.e. ArcSight, QRadar, Splunk)
• Cloud networking technologies
• Network automation and scripting
• VPN and VLAN configuration
• Cisco networking equipment
• FortiNet network equipment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• Project management capabilities
• Business process understanding
• Team collaboration
• Documentation expertise
Preferred:
• CCNA or equivalent
• CCNP, CCIE
• Security+ or CISSP
• IAT Level I/II certification
• Azure networking certifications
