Job description

Copper River Enterprise Services is seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to support network infrastructure operations in Newport, Rhode Island. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining network systems across classified and unclassified environments. The Network Security Engineer will ensure network performance, security compliance, and operational continuity through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and system optimization.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Ensure security compliance and provide remote troubleshooting via the Trellix ePO console
  • Assist System Administrators with desktop and server issues, related to software installations and other requests
  • Configure Trellix products, including ENS Client, ENS Firewall, Threat Prevention, and Access Protection, on Microsoft and Linux endpoints
  • Manage the daily DAT cycle on SIPR machines to ensure Comply to Connect (C2C) Cisco compliance
  • Installing, testing, and deploying hotfixes and patches for Trellix products to manage vulnerabilities
  • Monitor and analyze security events in Splunk and Airlock Digital.  Analyst on Duty: Investigate alerts that are triggered in the Splunk Console to determine if a threat or normal activity is allowed in the environment.
  • Provide threat detection and incident response to mitigate risks to the Network
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of issues Trellix agents maybe have on Newly Imaged machines
  • Create exceptions for approved DADMS software
  • Building new ePO and RSD Servers to expand the environment and ensure zero downtime in case of outages

Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Clearance
    • Active secret security clearance
  • Certifications
    • CompTIA Security+ CE
  • Experience
    • Experience implementing, managing, and optimizing ePO, Policy Auditor, and other components of the DISA Endpoint Security Solutions suite in DoD environments
    • Proficient in Active Directory (AD) & Domain Controller (DC) Administration
    • Expert knowledge of Windows Server Administration, including Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 internals, registry, event logs, and system services
    • Experience with Windows security baselines (CIS, DISA STIG)
    • Strong background in Security Compliance & Vulnerability Management
    • Experience with SPLUNK; Analyst on Duty
    • Prior experience with deploying enterprise tools on Domain Computers, including Antivirus, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanning
    • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.)
