Job Summary

The SD-WAN Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining Comcast Business ActiveCore SD-WAN solutions for mid-market and enterprise customers. This role serves as a subject matter expert for SD-WAN technologies, providing advanced troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and operational support for customer network environments. The engineer partners with cross-functional teams to resolve complex network issues, support service changes, coordinate hardware replacements, and ensure reliable connectivity across infrastructures. This position requires strong technical expertise in SD-WAN platforms, underlay network circuits, and enterprise networking technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical expert for ActiveCore SD-WAN solutions and related networking technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex SD-WAN, WAN, LAN, routing, switching, and underlay circuit issues.
  • Support customer service activations, network changes, and configuration updates.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify potential issues before they impact service.
  • Investigate and resolve customer-reported network incidents in accordance with established service levels.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts with internal engineering, operations, and field teams.
  • Support hardware replacement activities and network service restoration efforts.
  • Document network configurations, operational procedures, troubleshooting findings, and resolutions.
  • Contribute technical expertise toward operational improvements and network reliability initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain network performance objectives aligned with business and customer requirements.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion when resolving complex technical issues.
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.
  • Must be available to support weekends, holidays, and variable schedules as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong Experience supporting and troubleshooting SD-WAN environments.
  • Understanding of WAN and LAN networking concepts.
  • Experience with routing, switching, and network troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Knowledge of underlay circuit connectivity and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting business or enterprise customer network environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Versa SD-WAN solutions.
  • Experience with enterprise networking technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or similar platforms.

  • Experience supporting mid-market or enterprise customers.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and performance management tools.

Primary Location Pay Range: $78,505.90 - $117,758.85This job can be performed in Illinois with a Pay Range of $71,369.00 - $117,758.85Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
