Job Summary

The Engineer 3, Network Engineering - Software Defined Networking (SD-WAN) is responsible for supporting and troubleshooting SD-WAN services for Comcast Business mid-market customers. This role serves as a technical escalation point for service assurance, change requests, and incident resolution, ensuring customer networks remain stable and operational. The engineer will work closely with internal operations teams, equipment vendors, and field resources to diagnose issues, resolve underlay circuit concerns, and coordinate hardware replacement activities when necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess strong SD-WAN expertise, hands-on troubleshooting experience, and a solid understanding of WAN and LAN technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for SD-WAN environments serving mid-market business customers.
  • Diagnose and resolve service-impacting incidents related to SD-WAN overlays, underlay circuits, routing, and connectivity.
  • Perform service assurance activities, including customer change requests and network modifications.
  • Troubleshoot WAN and LAN network issues across customer environments.
  • Serve as a technical escalation resource for complex networking issues.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate hardware replacements and network restoration efforts.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify service degradation or potential outages.
  • Document troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and network configurations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal support teams to resolve equipment and circuit-related issues.
  • Participate in after-hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call support as required.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong experience supporting and troubleshooting SD-WAN solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Versa SD-WAN platforms and associated technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of WAN, LAN, routing, switching, and IP networking fundamentals.
  • Experience troubleshooting underlay circuit connectivity issues.
  • Ability to analyze network incidents and drive timely resolution.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting business customer network environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting service provider, managed network, or enterprise networking environments.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, MPLS, DIA, broadband, and other WAN transport technologies.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and performance management tools.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Versa, or equivalent networking certifications.

Colorado Pay Range: $92,636.96 - $138,955.44This job can be performed in Illinois with a Pay Range of $84,215.42 - $138,955.44Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
