Job description

Job Title: Datacenter Network Engineer

Duration: Long Term Contract

Location: Secaucus, NJ 07094


Responsibilities:

•       Deploy and operate the front side, backend, and management networks within our on-prem datacenters

•       Perform site visits to oversee new network buildouts performed by operations team

•       Optimize end user experience by architecting the network to lower latency, packet loss, and jitter while increasing scale

•       Deploy and supports new software releases, system upgrades, and patches for the network infrastructure environment

•       Maintain knowledge of vendor products (AMD/Pensando, Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista) and solutions that can enable the diagnosis of complex issues, build redundancy and resiliency along with planning for the future capacity and technology growth of the network

•       Develop and maintain networking inventory documentation including network diagrams, cabling schedules, and DCIM

•       Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations

•       Ensure the network architecture addresses high availability and performance of mission critical platforms and network resources

•       Monitor the network status of global sites for potential issues or learnings

•       Train and enable on-site L1 support teams

•       Occasionally perform on-call incident response as L2

Qualifications and Attributes:

•       At least 6 years of experience maintaining enterprise and/or cloud network infrastructure – routers, switches, NICs

•       Knowledge and experience of hosting technologies including Hyper-converged infrastructure, Converged Infrastructure, Xen virtualization

•       Knowledge and experience with supporting infrastructure service technologies including DNS, DHCP, BOOTP, PXE, TFTP, NTP, PAM

•       Experience with developing python/ansible scripts to automate infrastructure deployment and metrics collection

•       Intermediate Linux skills

•       Experience with various tools such as MAAS or Infoblox

•       Direct experience with Cisco and Arista products

•       Arista ACE-Level 3 certification or higher required

•       Cisco CCNP Certification – Preferred

•       Experience with Cisco Nexus and Nexus Manager

•       Experience with VXLAN/EVPN overlays, BGP routing, and leaf-spine as well as traditional data center architectures across multiple data center environments

•       Knowledge of RDMA network tuning

•       Experience with non-Ethernet based technologies (such as InfiniBand/ConnectX-5/6) is also a plus.

•       Experience documenting network knowledge base and operational runbooks

•       Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols

•       Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems

•       Ability to explain complex network concepts to application engineers and leadership

•       Ability to create simplified network diagrams for presentations

•       Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection

•       Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

•       Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions

•       Team player with the ability to work with all levels of staff within/outside of R&D and outside the organization

•       A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment

•       Good analytical and problem-solving skills

•       Dependable and flexible when necessary
