Job Overview:
The contractor staff member is responsible for the design, installation, administration, and maintenance of the network. The staff member shall monitor the network performance, facilitate network changes, and identify and troubleshoot complex problems and effectively communicate them with service providers, customers, and users. The staff member should maintain technical skill currency and knowledge of vendor technologies to help determine those that best meet client needs. The Network Engineer is responsible for all aspects of network administration. A CCNA or CCNP certification is highly preferred, Cisco experience is a must.
Qualifications:
  • The ideal Network Engineer candidate will be able to do the following:
  • Design, build, and implement network systems.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues. Analyze network traffic using network monitoring tools and logs and provide capacity planning recommendations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor and respond to complex technical hardware and software problems. Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
  • Support the purchase, testing, and installation of network communications systems, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems through vendor comparison and cost studies.
  • Perform system-level design and configuration of products, such as, Cisco routers, switches, and ASAs. Determine the hardware, OS, and other platform specifications.
  • Perform a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment.
  • Provide assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations.
  • Provide input to policy level discussions regarding network and security standards.
  • Support delivery of web applications using the Citrix ADC to improve their performance, security, and resiliency.
  • Communicate effectively with other project groups, such as, Security, Windows, UNIX, and Storage teams to assist with the installation and troubleshooting of systems components.
  • Participate in regular, rotational on-call support with other network team members and provides prompt service to clients and users.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years networking experience
  • CCNA

Additional Requirements: A current Cisco CCIE Certification or knowledge of computer systems / network engineering related to the "Network Environment" specified below.
