Responsibilities

This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for occasional on-site expectations based on business needs.
 

Performs contract development, review, analysis and negotiation for consulting and research-related arrangements across all of Mayo. Ensures contract compliance with current law/regulations and Mayo's policies, procedures, and practices. Manages contract negotiations between Mayo and external professionals, which includes resolving conflicting interests and objectives. Assists in the development of negotiation strategies, identifies areas of contract risk, offers alternatives for management of such risk, and provides consultation and guidance to investigators, administrators, and other parties internally throughout the entire Mayo system and externally with respect to contract matters. Obtains appropriate financial review. Works independently in management of a large number of simultaneous contract negotiations and performs other miscellaneous responsibilities and special projects as requested.


Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in business or law with a minimum of five years of related experience in contract management/negotiations. Healthcare or higher education exposure is preferred. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience is preferred. Minimum of five years' work with increasing responsibilities/experience dealing with contract management/negotiations or other pertinent experience.

Working knowledge of business and contract law relating to healthcare or higher education contract issues. Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills, exceptional communication abilities, self-directed, ability to work independently with the capacity to manage multiple priorities. Must be able to compose business contract terms and language, including redlining agreements for counter negotiation and inclusion in contracts. Strong analytical skills needed for analysis of complex contracting arrangements, mediating and resolving issues relating to contract negotiation. Ingenuity, judgment and creativity are needed to perform this job combined with good planning and organizational skills. Knowledge with regard to healthcare and specifically higher education is preferred.
