The Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) System Administrator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting server, workstation, and enterprise system services on the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN). The candidate will support the operation and maintenance of multiple systems across different classification levels and help ensure reliable system availability for our customers and site operations.
This position provides direct system administration support. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining user accounts and permissions in Active Directory, managing group policy objects, supporting Windows Server environments, maintaining DNS records and organization, managing server roles and features, troubleshooting system access issues, and supporting Information Assurance compliance. The candidate will also assist with eSTIG scanning, documentation of findings, remediation actions, patching, system hardening, and maintaining technical documentation for supported systems.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
• Maintain the smooth operation of servers, workstations, and supporting enterprise services.
• Create, maintain, and troubleshoot user accounts, security groups, permissions, and access rights within Active Directory.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects to support system security, compliance, and operational requirements.
• Support Windows Server administration, including server roles, features, services, and routine maintenance.
• Maintain DNS records, naming organization, and related system documentation to support reliable network and system operations.
• Perform system troubleshooting for authentication, access, server availability, workstation issues, and application or service interruptions.
• Support Information Assurance compliance activities, including eSTIG scanning, STIG checklist review, finding documentation, and remediation.
• Assist with patch management, software updates, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening efforts.
• Prepare or ensure that appropriate system documentation exists, including operational instructions, troubleshooting steps, and configuration records.
• Coordinate with network administrators, cybersecurity personnel, customers, and third-party support teams to resolve system issues and maintain operational readiness.
• Monitor supported systems and recommend improvements to maintain reliability, security, and performance.
Requirements: I have already done that or have it!
• 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 0 years experience with a Master's in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience.
• Must currently possess, and be able to maintain, an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Current IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+.
• Hands-on experience in system administration, Windows Server administration, or enterprise IT support.
• Experience with Active Directory account management, security groups, permissions, and user access troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting Windows-based systems, workstations, servers, and related enterprise services.
• Strong team-oriented professional with effective communication skills, ethical judgment, and the ability to document and communicate technical issues clearly.s
Preferred Requirements
• Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, or other relevant system administration certification.
• Demonstrated experience with Windows Server roles, Group Policy, DNS, and Active Directory administration.
• Familiarity with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), eSTIG scanning, checklist review, finding documentation, and remediation.
• Experience with patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening in a DoD or enterprise environment.
• Experience with virtualization platforms, server monitoring, backup processes, or enterprise management tools.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting authentication, smart card, certificate, DNS, and time synchronization issues.
• Ability to work with cybersecurity, network, and customer support teams to identify, track, and resolve system issues.
Physical Requirements
