NETWORK ENGINEER (Network Support)
Location: Augusta, GA (Hybrid/Onsite)
Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire
Duration: 3-6 Month Contract with Potential for Permanent Conversion
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Network Engineer to support the day-to-day maintenance, administration, and troubleshooting of its enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations. This is a hands-on network support role focused on maintaining reliable, secure, and efficient network operations rather than designing or architecting new network solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience supporting enterprise network environments, and the ability to work collaboratively with infrastructure, systems, and application teams.
Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain enterprise Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), wireless networks, and related infrastructure.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other network devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and reliability issues.
  • Monitor network health, utilization, and performance using SolarWinds and other monitoring tools.
  • Support and maintain Palo Alto firewall environments, including security policy updates and access management.
  • Perform routine network maintenance, firmware updates, patching, and hardware replacements.
  • Coordinate with telecommunications providers, internet service providers, and third-party vendors when needed.
  • Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, inventory records, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes, and technology implementations.
  • Collaborate with systems administrators, application teams, and technical support personnel to resolve infrastructure-related issues.
  • Participate in after-hours support as needed for scheduled maintenance or critical incidents.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • TCP/IP
    • DNS
    • DHCP
    • VLANs
    • Routing and switching fundamentals
    • Wireless networking
    • Network security best practices
  • Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Experience supporting enterprise firewall environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience using SolarWinds or similar network monitoring tools.
  • Experience working with Dell server environments.
  • Experience supporting PowerSchool or other ERP platforms.
  • Experience supporting Mitel telecommunications systems.
  • Industry certifications such as Network+, Security+, or similar.
