JOB TITLE:  PART-TIME NETWORK HARDWARE TECHNICIAN                          DEPARTMENT:  INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $15.45 per hour                                                           FLSA: NON-EXEMPT

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Assistant Director of Network Hardware & User Support

SCHEDULE DETAILS:  Part-time (not to exceed 19.5 hour per week)

Position Summary

The Part-time Network Hardware Technician performs the day to day duties required to maintain network connectivity for end user devices and other systems. Major responsibilities include maintaining the college Telecommunications facilities and managing network connectivity to the appropriate network device in a complex enterprise network environment.

Essential Job

  • Terminate and certify the appropriate cables to accomplish connectivity of network devices (copper and fiber).
  • Connect computers, printers, servers, telephones and other devices to the college network.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity problems and repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain documentation of network connections.
  • Perform basic switch configuration under the guidance of a Network Hardware Technician or Network Engineer.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • One year cabling experience in an enterprise network environment or college cabling class.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. to a height of 42" and carry the weight a distance of 10'.
  • Each applicant will be required to demonstrate the ability to identify cable connector types and terminate copper cable.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Associate degree in a computer related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • BICSI Level 1 Installer certification.
  • Experience with Colleague.
  • Experience working within a collegiate setting.

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of lifting 35 lbs. to a height of 42" and carrying the weight a distance of 10'.
