Job description

Job Objective:
The Network Administrator II builds upon foundational networking knowledge and contributes to the administration of LAN/WAN systems, security enforcement, and field site connectivity. This role performs with increasing independence, resolving moderate network issues, implementing upgrades, and collaborating with vendors, IT teams, and SCADA partners to ensure system reliability and compliance with operational requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Configure and deploy firewalls, switches, and wireless access points under guidance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues like network slowness, IP conflicts, and routing issues.
  • Support DNS/DHCP, VPN tunnels, VLAN design, and SDWAN/WAN routing.
  • Conduct regular firmware updates and switch maintenance.
  • Maintain firewall rule sets, conduct access reviews, and monitor IDS/IPS events.
  • Participate in quarterly vulnerability scans and remediation plans.
  • Update SOPs and document change logs for routine tasks.
  • Travel up to 25% to support field sites, infrastructure hubs, or during major projects.
  • Recommend enhancements for documentation or tools based on firsthand usage

  • Follow standard operating procedures as developed by senior staff.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call for critical systems.

  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional and solutions-oriented approach with employees, supervisors and other departments
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Familiar with switch stacking, firewall rules, VPN tunnels and SDWAN
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and work with minimal supervision.
  • Exposure to SCADA or OT network environments is a plus.

Education Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology related field plus two (2) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology related field plus four (4) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.
