Pay Grade:  810 ($237.81 per Day min) 
 

Primary Purpose:

This position is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and ongoing support of the district's surveillance camera and electronic door access control systems, including both the server-side software/infrastructure and the software residing on end-user and field devices. This role provides just-in-time repair, warranty service coordination, and vendor management to restore and maintain camera and access control services, and troubleshoots issues related to camera hardware, access control hardware, and the network connectivity that supports these systems, ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and campuses


Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

  • Associate degree in a technical field required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Relevant manufacturer or industry certifications preferred (e.g., Milestone, Genetec, Software House, Lenel, or similar)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with video management systems (VMS) and IP-based surveillance camera platforms
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with electronic access control systems, including card readers, door controllers, and credentialing software
  • Knowledge of server administration supporting camera and access control software, including Windows Server and virtualized environments
  • Working knowledge of network technologies as they relate to camera and access control systems, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and PoE
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of database concepts as they relate to security system software (SQL preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret low voltage wiring diagrams and site/floor plans
  • Knowledge of storage technologies used for video retention, including SAN and NAS
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with vendors to resolve escalated issues
  • Ability to learn and work on new technologies

Experience:

  • Three years of full-time or equivalent experience supporting surveillance camera systems, electronic access control systems, or related low-voltage security technology
  • Experience supporting both server-side software and end-user/field device software in an enterprise environment
  • Previous experience in a K-12 education environment a plus

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain surveillance camera and electronic door access control systems across the district, including server software and end-user/field device software.
  • Perform just-in-time repairs, troubleshooting, and warranty service coordination for cameras, access control hardware, and related network connectivity.
  • Coordinate with vendors to diagnose issues, order parts, schedule repairs, and restore or adjust camera and access control services in a timely manner.
  • Check compatibility of new cameras, controllers, and access control components with standard district configurations prior to deployment.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues affecting cameras and access control devices, working with the Network & Repair team as needed.
  • Perform root cause analysis on system, server, and application issues affecting camera and access control availability, document findings and resolutions.
  • Organize and implement projects ranging from small to medium size related to security system installations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of camera and access control configurations, device inventories, licensing, and network connections.
  • Coordinate with campus staff, administrators, and district departments to resolve security system issues and provide status updates.
  • Ensure proper escalation and communication protocols are followed during troubleshooting of camera and access control issues.
  • Support compliance with district policies and applicable safety/security standards related to surveillance and access control systems.
  • Perform special projects, after-hours support, and other duties as assigned.
