The Spring-Ford Area School District is seeking a Network Administrator.
This position is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and operational integrity of the school district's Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN). This role ensures that all network infrastructure including servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points support the district's educational goals by providing reliable, high-speed, and secure connectivity for students, staff, and administration. The Network Administrator serves as the primary technical lead for network security, data integrity, and disaster recovery, while also acting as a Tier 3 support resource for complex technical issues.
Experience:
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, with at least 2 years in a lead or project management role, preferably within a K-12 educational setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with network infrastructure (managed switches, VLANs, enterprise wireless networks), server administration (Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policies), and telecommunications systems.
  • Proven experience with project management in a technology environment.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools, learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and Google Workspace for Education.

Education:
  • 2 or 4 year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Educational Technology, Education, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, Google Certified Educator, Google Cloud) preferred.

Specific Skills:
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and QoS.
  • Proficiency with enterprise-grade networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Meraki, Ubiquiti).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments, Linux, and mobile device management (MDM) platforms.
  • Experience managing Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft Office 365/Azure environments.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Strong understanding of current networking standards, operating systems, data management, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent technical leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a systematic approach to troubleshooting.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and a rapidly changing environment.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to technology in education (e.g., E-Rate, CIPA, FERPA).

This is an Administrative Support position. Salary: $83,500 - $87,000, based on experience. Spring-Ford Area School District offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and prescription insurance, as well as paid time off, paid holidays, and a tuition reimbursement program. This position is part of the Public School Employees Retirement System (PSERS).
