What will you do?

The Material Manager is responsible for the end-to-end planning, control, and coordination of all project materials to ensure alignment with construction schedules, quality requirements, and installation priorities. The role manages receiving, material traceability, storage, preservation, and release in accordance with OEM specifications, project procedures, and international quality and EHS standards. Working across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams, the Material Manager ensures the right materials are available at the right time to support safe, efficient, and on-schedule delivery of complex turbine and power generation projects.


Essential Duties

  • Develop and implement project-specific material control strategies aligned with construction schedules and installation sequencing.
  • Maintain full lifecycle material traceability from receipt through installation and final handover.
  • Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for work packages and generate Material Withdrawal Requests (MWRs).
  • Monitor material availability against project milestones and proactively identify potential shortages or delays.
  • Produce daily and weekly material status and progress reports for client and project management.
  • Lead the engineering receiving inspection of all turbine and balance-of-plant equipment in accordance with OEM specifications and project quality plans.
  • Verify material condition, certification, and documentation upon receipt.
  • Ensure dimensional, visual, and preservation compliance prior to release for installation.
  • Coordinate resolution of non-conformances in conjunction with OEMs, quality teams, and construction management. Review and validate Material Receiving Reports and Overage, Shortage & Defect (OS&D) reports.
  • Manage discrepancy resolution processes with vendors, OEMs, and client representatives.
  • Maintain controlled records for turnover and lifetime quality documentation.
  • Operate and administer document management systems for material certification, inspection records, and shipping documentation.
  • Implement OEM preservation requirements for long-term storage and installed equipment.
  • Audit storage conditions and preservation activities to ensure compliance with project and manufacturer standards.
  • Track preservation status and generate compliance reports.
  • Perform receipt inspections of materials (kick and count).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of materials management, procurement, or supply chain experience in manufacturing, energy, or high-tech industries; experience in gas power, oil & gas, or control systems is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP ECC/S4HANA, Oracle, NetSuite) and inventory management techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate data into actionable plans.
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management capabilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to interact with internal stakeholders and external suppliers at all levels.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance, trade compliance, and safety policies.
