Job description

Our Service division is growing and we are now hiring Electrical Maintenance Technicians.

Primary Role:

The Electrical Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in industrial and manufacturing environments. The technician ensures compliance with NFPA 70B, OEM specifications, and NETA standards while maintaining the reliability, safety, and efficiency of facility electrical infrastructure. This role supports uptime and continuous operations by servicing power distribution equipment, motors, controls, and related components.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical preventive maintenance and testing in accordance with NFPA 70B, OEM specifications, and NETA standards

  • Conduct infrared thermography to identify abnormal heat signatures and potential electrical faults

  • Complete visual inspections of electrical components, wiring, and connections to identify wear, contamination, or damage

  • Clean, lubricate, and mechanically service electrical equipment to ensure proper performance and longevity

  • Perform electrical testing on power distribution systems, control equipment, and motors to verify proper functionality

  • Assess equipment condition and operating environments to identify maintenance risks and improvement opportunities

  • Apply proper safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc-flash awareness, and reviewing current arc-flash studies

  • Support Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives and integrate safe work practices into all job tasks

  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, test results, corrective actions, and recommendations

  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential issues to minimize downtime and cost impacts

  • Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members regarding work performed and equipment condition

  • Instruct, implement and enforce the company safety program and site specific safety requirements incidents are preventable is critical to our success

Requirements:

  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in an industrial electrical maintenance setting

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, power distribution, and industrial electrical installations

  • Ability to develop and execute preventive maintenance strategies aligned with industry standards

  • High proficiency using electrical tools, diagnostic instruments, and testing equipment

  • Strong computer proficiency, including the ability to generate, review, upload, and send reports and project information

  • Ability to interpret and apply arcflash studies and safety protocols

  • Extensive knowledge of current NEC rules and regulations

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E and other rules and regulations in regards to construction safety

  • Strong knowledge of scheduling and reporting processes for maintenance activities

  • Identification and mitigation of potential issues before cost impacts

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and customer interaction

  • Customer growth mindset with a focus on reliability, safety, and productivity

  • Well-developed decision-making skills, particularly regarding equipment safety and operational impact

  • Demonstrates and enforces company and sitespecific safety requirements with zero tolerance for unsafe behaviors, reinforcing that all incidents are preventable through consistent safe work practices

  • NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B electrical safety and maintenance training/certification preferred, but not required

  • OEM-specific equipment training and certification preferred, but not required

  • NETA electrical testing and maintenance certification, preferably QEMW, preferred but not required

  • Ability to travel frequently up to 100% of the time, including by airline and other methods

  • Above average mechanical aptitude, basic mathematic ability, and the ability to read construction documents

  • The willingness to participate in field training, whether it by OJT, classroom-based, or completely virtual

  • Employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and remain sitting for long periods of time. Employee will frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This includes lifting arm(s) above shoulder level to install equipment.

  • Ability to manipulate materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs, frequently and at long distances (30+ feet) as needed.

  • Ability to move up or mount by using the hands or feet to include: Ladders - Step stool, 8' to 10' ladder, extension ladder, Stairways - 3 or more flights. This includes working at heights over 30 feet.

  • To stretch out, extend, or put forth a bodily part. To touch or grasp something, by extending or stretching. To touch, lift, hold or operate with the hands up to 50 times daily.

  • To bend forward or down from the middle of the waist or the middle of the back, to bend, downwards, to lower oneself and/or to move freely on hands and knees between 20-50 times daily.

  • Perform skilled work in cramped areas, overhead, at heights, and in a variety of weather conditions.
