Job description

Position Summary

Visual Connections, LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our McLean, VA team. The candidate should have experience in .NET and SQL development, technical analysis, and unit testing, along with the required education and work experience. Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain applications using C# and the .NET stack, including .NET MVC, .NET Core 8.0, Web API, Telerik Kendo UI, and NPM.

Develop efficient data access layers using Entity Framework, LINQ, and ADO.NET.

Write and optimize SQL Server database objects, including T-SQL queries, stored procedures, UDFs, and triggers, leveraging SQL Server 2022 features.

Support complex database architectures and participate in database migration efforts.

Design and maintain service-oriented components using WCF.

Implement unit testing using frameworks such as NUnit and MSTest to ensure code quality and reliability.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues across application, database, and server tiers.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional development teams to design, review, and deliver high-quality software solutions.

Participate in Agile ceremonies and practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree and 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer.

The ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust with the Federal government is mandatory.

Employer-based sponsorship is not available for this role. Legal permanent residents must have maintained residency status in the United States for a minimum of the past three years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong experience with C# and the .NET platform, including .NET Core, MVC, Web API, and WCF.

Strong experience with SQL Server (2022), T-SQL, and database design and migration concepts.

Skilled in developing, testing, and maintaining full-stack .NET applications using Entity Framework, LINQ, and ADO.NET.

Skilled in writing and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.

Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and Web Apps, CI/CD pipelines, work item tracking, and release management.

Ability to troubleshoot issues across application, database, and server tiers and collaborate effectively within an Agile development team.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Familiarity with Static Code Analysis using SonarQube or similar.

Microsoft certified: Azure fundamentals or related cloud certifications.
