What is a net developer contract?

A .NET Developer Contract job is a temporary or project-based role where a developer specializes in building applications using Microsoft’s .NET framework. Contract developers are typically hired for a specific duration to work on software development, bug fixes, or system enhancements. They may work independently or as part of a team, collaborating with stakeholders to meet project goals. These roles can be on-site, remote, or hybrid and often require expertise in C#, ASP.NET, SQL, and related technologies. Contract positions offer flexibility and competitive pay but may not include traditional employment benefits.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a net developer contract?

To thrive as a .NET Developer Contractor, a strong command of C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and object-oriented programming principles is essential, often backed by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with development tools like Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, and certifications such as Microsoft Certified: .NET Developer are highly regarded. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and adaptability enable success when working with diverse teams and managing project requirements. These skills ensure that contractors can deliver robust, maintainable software solutions on time while effectively collaborating with clients and colleagues.

Depending on the organization, you might collaborate with cross-functional teams that include project managers, UX/UI designers, QA testers, and other developers, or sometimes work more independently with minimal supervision. Projects can be short-term enhancements or longer-term, full-scale builds, and contractors are often expected to quickly adapt to new environments and existing codebases. This dynamic setup offers exposure to diverse technologies and processes, enabling contractors to expand their skill set and network across different industries.

Job description

About the Role
We're looking for a Lead Product Manager to own the product experience for our Supply Chain stakeholders - a new and expanding domain within our enterprise service enablement ecosystem. You'll serve as the primary product partner for Supply Chain, delivering integrated capabilities across ServiceNow, Oracle, contract management systems, and any additional platforms required to support end-to-end supply chain operations.
This role operates at the intersection of enterprise operations and multi-platform product management. You'll spend the majority of your time embedded with Supply Chain stakeholders - understanding their workflows, processes, and policies - and translating those needs into well-scoped, prioritized capabilities that reduce manual effort, improve data visibility, and enable more scalable operations. You'll partner closely with platform owners, engineering teams, and business leaders across the organization to deliver outcomes that matter.
What You'll Do
Stakeholder Partnership & Discovery (75%)
  • Serve as the dedicated product partner for Supply Chain - building trust, establishing deep domain knowledge, and becoming the go-to resource for capability planning
  • Conduct ongoing discovery with Supply Chain stakeholders to surface pain points, map current-state processes, and identify high-value opportunities across procurement, vendor management, contract lifecycle, and operations
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and process reviews to translate business needs into structured product requirements
  • Develop and maintain a prioritized, stakeholder-aligned roadmap across ServiceNow, Oracle, contract management, and other enabling source to pay platforms / initiatives
  • Present roadmap, priorities, and tradeoffs to business leaders and executive stakeholders with clarity and confidence

Product Ownership & Delivery (25%)
  • Define epics, features, and user stories that are implementation-ready - with clear acceptance criteria, scope boundaries, and dependency identification
  • Partner with Product Owners and engineering teams to guide delivery across sprint cycles, release planning, and UAT
  • Drive launch readiness including change management, training, and adoption support for Supply Chain end users
  • Monitor post-launch performance, gather feedback, and iterate continuously to improve capability effectiveness
  • Identify integration requirements across platforms (ServiceNow ↔ Oracle, contract systems, etc.) and partner with architects and engineers to define the right solutions

Platform & Domain Strategy
  • Build a cohesive platform strategy for Supply Chain that spans multiple systems - ensuring capabilities work together rather than in silos
  • Identify opportunities to standardize, consolidate, or automate workflows across procurement, sourcing, and vendor operations
  • Stay current on Supply Chain technology trends, platform capabilities (ServiceNow SPM/Procurement, Oracle SCM), and contract lifecycle management best practices
  • Represent Supply Chain product needs in cross-functional planning forums and enterprise architecture discussions

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years' experience in a related field
  • 5+ years of product management experience in enterprise software, internal platforms, or business operations technology
  • Demonstrated ability to manage products that span multiple platforms or systems of record
  • Strong discovery and facilitation skills - comfortable leading structured conversations with business stakeholders to uncover needs and define requirements
  • Experience working with or adjacent to Supply Chain, Procurement, Vendor Management, or Contract Lifecycle Management domains
  • Ability to translate complex operational workflows into clear, actionable product requirements
  • Proven success influencing without authority across technical teams, platform owners, and business stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and experience writing epics, features, and user stories

Preferred
  • Hands-on experience with supply chain / procurement platforms (ie. Oracle, ServiceNow or related modules)
  • Experience with contract management platforms (Icertis, Coupa, Ariba, or similar)
  • Background in enterprise service management, shared services, or internal platform strategy
  • Exposure to data integration, workflow automation, or system-of-record design across multi-vendor environments
  • Experience building relationships with a net-new stakeholder group - establishing trust, credibility, and momentum from the ground up

USD 111,500.00 - 185,900.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $111,500.00 - $185,900.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
