Job description

Role Overview:
This role is for a Senior .Net Developer passionate about developing market-leading products. As part of a product team, the developer will leverage experienced CMS and .Net software development skills to implement large features, resolve bugs, address technical debt, improve workflows, and deliver valuable, high-quality software to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver large, clean, maintainable features, resolve complex end-to-end issues, and define new approaches to deliver valuable features.
  • Create automated test approaches and strategies to maintain appropriate quality levels within the team.
  • Lead code reviews with an emphasis on non-functional requirements and adherence to architectural principles.
  • Take ownership over the security assessment of team solutions, ensuring best practice security techniques are followed.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and other release strategies.
  • Possess knowledge of agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Exhibit experience in writing large, well-optimized, and maintainable software features.
  • Analyze, debug, and solve highly complex problems.
  • Consider all relevant factors when deciding a technical approach.
  • Work effectively in a team, reporting progress daily in standup meetings.
  • Research new technologies and present proposals to management and architects.
  • Support the quality assurance team and business acceptance testing practices.
  • Recommend business solutions by comparing in-house versus external alternatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of corporate security procedures and policies for implementation, auditing, and documentation.
  • Prepare technical documentation and participate in/lead code reviews to ensure code meets standards and best practices.

Required Skills:
  • Development skills in .Net/VB, .Net, C, JavaScript, HTML, Microsoft SQL server, Source Code Management (Git), CSS, Angular.io, and SASS / SCSS.
  • Experience with Cloud Products/Technologies like Containers, AKS, OpenShift, and Azure.
  • Proficiency in workflow management including versioning, branching, merging, and pull requests.
  • Experience with Agile working practices (Scrum, Kanban) and contributing to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Travis, CircleCI).
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment.
  • Clear understanding of software development life cycle procedures and processes, including agile methodologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience using test-driven development (TDD) strategies.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with version control techniques using Git or BitBucket.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or other container methodologies).

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience in a senior software development role; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a software programmer/developer role, with 3 years in an agile environment.
  • Proficiency in Full Stack .NET Development, JavaScript, JSON.
  • Ability to design applications using architectures such as Micro Service-based solutions using Azure Cloud.
  • Extensive knowledge of .NET core and .NET Standard code libraries.
  • Active scrum team participation, creation, and validation of tests using SSDLC in an Agile environment.
  • 4+ years' experience in project planning and software development life cycle methodology, including Agile Scrum/SAFe.
  • 4+ years' experience leading small to mid-size development teams.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience architecting, designing, and implementing .Net applications running in Docker/Kubernetes in Azure cloud.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, utilities, and programming languages relevant to assigned projects.
  • General knowledge of life insurance company operations.
