Job description

Signal Metal Industries is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Mechanical Drafter to join our Engineering team in Irving, TX.

This position is responsible for creating and revising manufacturing drawings, developing flat patterns, supporting production with templates and fixtures, and working closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate fabrication of large steel components.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with AutoCAD experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment who wants long-term growth into Project Management, Design Engineering, or Manufacturing Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Create and revise manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD Mechanical
  • Draft 2D patterns from customer drawings according to Signal Metal Industries Standards.
  • Interpret customer and engineering drawings
  • Develop flat patterns for fabricated steel components
  • Review drawings for dimensional discrepancies and missing information
  • Maintain drawing revisions and document control
  • Create templates and fixtures for manufacturing operations
  • Measure existing parts and create drawings from field measurements
  • Enter BOM and routing information into ERP system
  • Support Project Managers and production personnel throughout fabrication

Required:

  • 3+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Mechanical
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication drawings
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience in steel fabrication, plate processing, or heavy manufacturing
  • Experience creating BOMs and routings in an ERP system
  • Experience with ProNest or other nesting software
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
