Occupational Health Nurse-LPN/House Supervisor

Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury is a one-of-a-kind rehabilitation and community re-entry facility in Lake Katrine, NY (near Kingston, NY), specializing in:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Ventilator Care and Ventilator Weaning
  • Neurobehavioral Disorders
  • Complex Medical Recovery

We are the largest brain injury treatment program in the world. We are a facility where talented people are given the opportunity to use their special skills, be creative and sometimes push the envelope.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Health Services: Conduct pre-employment health screenings, including vital signs, TB testing, and immunization reviews. Administer vaccines, including flu shots and other required immunizations, under the direction of the Occupational Health RN or physician. Provide basic first aid for workplace injuries and illnesses and refer employees to appropriate medical care providers as necessary. Monitor employees returning to work after illness or injury, ensuring compliance with clearance protocols.

Infection Control and Monitoring: Support infection control efforts by monitoring employee health for symptoms of communicable diseases. Conduct routine screenings for tuberculosis and other infectious conditions as required by facility policies. Educate employees on infection prevention measures, including hand hygiene and PPE usage.

Health Record Management: Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Update vaccination records and track employee compliance with health requirements. Assist in preparing reports for OSHA, workers' compensation, and other regulatory agencies.

Workplace Safety: Assist with ergonomic evaluations and recommendations to minimize injury risks. Participate in workplace safety initiatives, such as training on proper lifting techniques and hazard recognition. Support the investigation of workplace injuries or incidents, documenting findings and corrective actions.

Health and Wellness Initiatives: Support wellness programs, such as smoking cessation, stress management, and health education sessions. Assist in organizing health screenings and employee health fairs. Promote a healthy work environment by encouraging positive health behaviors among staff.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Occupational Health RN, Human Resources, and department supervisors to address employee health needs. Communicate with external healthcare providers and workers' compensation case managers as needed. Respond promptly to employee inquiries about health-related concerns and protocols.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local health regulations, including OSHA standards and long-term care requirements. Assist with preparing for audits and inspections related to employee health and safety.

Nursing: May be asked to pick up shifts/med carts as needed when there is a shortage.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Proficient in conducting basic clinical assessments and administering vaccines. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and record-keeping accuracy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels. Ability to handle sensitive health information confidentially and professionally. Competent in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required/Skilled Nursing Experience Preferred
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in occupational health, employee health, or long-term care settings. Familiarity with OSHA standards, workers' compensation, and infection control protocols is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Rate will be commensurate with experience.
