What is a Neo developer?

A Neo Developer is a software professional who builds, maintains, and optimizes applications on the Neo blockchain platform. Neo Developers use languages like C#, Python, or JavaScript to create smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) that run on Neo’s blockchain. They are responsible for integrating blockchain solutions, ensuring security, and leveraging Neo’s unique features like NeoVM and digital identity. Their work helps businesses and users interact efficiently and securely with decentralized technologies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Neo developer?

To thrive as a Neo Developer, you need strong programming skills in languages like C#, Python, or JavaScript, as well as a solid understanding of blockchain technology and smart contracts. Experience with Neo-specific tools such as Neo Blockchain Toolkit, NeoVM, and familiarity with platforms like NeoExpress is highly beneficial, along with relevant certifications in blockchain development. Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with teams and addressing complex decentralized application challenges. These abilities ensure the development of secure, efficient, and innovative blockchain solutions on the Neo platform.

What are some common challenges Neo developers face when integrating smart contracts with existing systems?

Neo Developers often encounter challenges when integrating smart contracts, such as handling interoperability with legacy systems, ensuring secure contract deployment, and managing data consistency across platforms. Additionally, navigating Neo's unique development tools and languages (like C# or Python for Neo contracts) can require extra learning and adaptation. Collaborating closely with backend teams and thoroughly testing integrations are key strategies to overcome these obstacles and ensure a smooth deployment.

Job description

Neo Security is hiring a Sales Engineer to be the technical backbone of our Northern California area enterprise sales team. You'll partner directly with Enterprise Sales Representatives to run technical discovery, deliver demos and proofs of concept, and guide prospects through security and technical evaluations. You'll be the trusted technical voice in the sales cycle - translating prospects' architecture and security requirements into a compelling, credible case for Neo Security, and translating prospect feedback back into the product and engineering teams.
This role suits someone who enjoys being customer-facing but stays close to the technical details, can speak fluently with security and infrastructure engineers, and thrives in the fast pace of a growing enterprise sales motion.
What You'll Do
  • Partner with Enterprise Sales Representatives on assigned accounts, acting as the primary technical resource throughout the sales cycle.
  • Run technical discovery calls to understand a prospect's environment, architecture, and security requirements.
  • Deliver tailored product demos and presentations to technical and executive audiences, translating capabilities into business value.
  • Design, scope, and run proofs of concept (POCs) and technical evaluations, working hands-on in prospect environments as needed.
  • Respond to technical questions in RFPs/RFIs and security questionnaires, and support the vendor security review process common in enterprise deals.
  • Build and maintain demo environments, POC templates, and technical collateral to make the sales team more efficient.
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, feeding technical objections, competitive intel, and feature gaps back to Product and Engineering.
  • Support onboarding and technical handoff to Customer Success/Implementation teams after deals close.
  • Stay current on Neo Security's product roadmap, the competitive landscape, and broader security industry trends.
  • Represent Neo Security at regional customer meetings, conferences, and events across Northern California.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or another technical B2B SaaS product.
  • Strong technical foundation in security concepts (network security, cloud security, identity, endpoint, or a related domain relevant to Neo Security's product).
  • Proven ability to run compelling technical demos and proofs of concept with enterprise customers.
  • Comfortable engaging with both highly technical practitioners (security engineers, IT admins) and executive stakeholders (CISOs, VPs of IT/Security).
  • Experience responding to security questionnaires and supporting technical procurement/vendor review processes.
  • Hands-on scripting or technical troubleshooting skills sufficient to configure demo environments and debug POC issues independently.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical topics for varied audiences.
  • Based in or near San Francisco, CA, with the ability to work a hybrid schedule and travel regionally for customer and prospect meetings as needed.
Nice to Haves
  • Prior hands-on experience as a security engineer, network engineer, or IT administrator before moving into a pre-sales role.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, cloud provider security certifications).
  • Experience supporting sales cycles in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, insurance) common in the SF Bay are enterprise market.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST) that come up during technical evaluations.
  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup, helping build out pre-sales process and collateral rather than just using an existing playbook.
  • Scripting/development experience (e.g., Python, Bash, or similar) for building custom demo integrations.
