A Day in the Life of a Switchboard/Receptionist - Communications
The Switchboard/Receptionist centers on providing clear, courteous communication while managing incoming calls, paging requests, and visitor needs. Receptionists rotate between front-desk and entrance duties, balancing computer-based tasks with in-person assistance. The work involves navigating interruptions, responding calmly to urgent or emotional situations, and handling confidential information appropriately. Collaboration is frequent with clinical staff, security, and support departments to ensure patients and visitors reach the right place quickly and safely.
