Nebraska Game & Parks is seeking physically driven and quality motivated individual to join our Operations and Construction crew. If you love working in the great outdoors, and take pride in the work that that you do, then come with work with our team to make our Nebraska Game and Parks better for everyone to enjoy. As a teammate you will get the opportunity to travel to many of our beautiful State Recreation and Wildlife Management Areas, all while working on projects like constructing new facilities or repairing existing amenities.
These fulltime temporary position will range from entry level to semi- skilled construction laborer. You will get to work alongside of, and learn from our skilled craftsmen on projects that will consist of minor repair work, to large scale construction projects. Job duties will require physical manual labor with the use of both hand and power tools, along with the operation of light to heavy earth moving equipment. Some out-of-town overnight travel will be required. Scheduled work hours are 8am to 4:30pm Monday thru Friday, but may be adjusted when needed or when traveling out-of-town to maximize work efficiency.
Examples of work might include:
• Remodeling of visitor cabins: Framing new walls, installing siding, shingling roofs, hanging drywall, building cabinets, and installing new windows & doors.
• Replacing or installing new concrete sidewalks, trails, and new ADA camping pads.
• Moving dirt to improve or correct drainage around cabins, campgrounds, and roadways.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: No specific education, training, or experience is required for entry to this class.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • General knowledge of building construction and/or maintenance practices
  • The ability to use hand and power tools related to the construction field
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Understand and follow directions
  • Read and comprehend blueprints
  • Work in adverse weather conditions
  • General computer skills.
