Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing great food by following our proprietary recipes that set our chicken apart from competitors.

EXPECTATIONS

The Prep Cook will work productively in a fast-paced environment and must be process- and task-oriented. This role requires strict adherence to all health, safety, and security procedures. Candidates should be reliable, fast-moving, and able to consistently follow recipes.

DUTIES OF A PREP COOK

  • Follow the steps outlined in the DHC Training Program to learn new skills, duties, and responsibilities
  • Abide by all rules and direction provided by the Restaurant Management Team
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work weekends and holidays
  • Communicate with immediate supervisors when additional training, guidance, or practice is needed
  • Understand how each job responsibility impacts Guests, Team Members, and overall restaurant success
  • Work collaboratively with teammates to prep menu items while following company recipes, safety procedures, and sanitary requirements
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to resolve interpersonal issues as needed
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as fryers, warmers, and other food preparation tools
  • Ensure daily restaurant cleanliness, including cleaning prep tables, sweeping and mopping floors, completing daily cleaning tasks, and washing, sanitizing, and disinfecting kitchen utensils
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance by wearing the required uniform and adhering to the DHC Uniform Policy

MUST HAVES / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current student, high school diploma, or GED preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lift 50–75 lbs comfortably
  • Ability to work in close quarters and around heat
  • Positive attitude while performing all duties
  • Commitment to guest satisfaction and ability to view restaurant operations from a guest’s perspective
  • Effective communication skills with teammates and the Restaurant Management Team
  • Excellent time management skills; performance-oriented and driven, with an understanding of performance expectations and results
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Access to a telephone or other reliable method of communication with management and teammates
