Job description

Midwest Valve Services, a Novaspect company, is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Inspector to join our fast-paced, customer-focused team. The successful candidate willpossessstrong industrial aptitude and a commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

This role serves as the shop's final quality checkpoint, ensuring that all repair work meets MVS standards before a valve is released to the customer. Responsibilities include verifying matchmarking, cleanliness,paintand coating requirements, and ensuring all required documentation is completed and accuratelyenteredARMR. The QC Inspector will work closely with the Shop Manager, Shop Supervisors, and Technicians to reinforce repair standards and promote MVS quality expectations.

The QC Inspector has the authority to hold, quarantine, or reject any valve that does not meet MVS repair standards and may require corrective action or rework prior to release. Final quality approval by the QC Inspector isrequiredbefore any unit leaves the Minooka IL facility.


Quality Control Inspector Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verify incoming valves and actuators for correct identification, condition, documentation, and scope; confirm orientation, fail position, and propermatchmarkingbefore disassembly.

  • Ensure disassembly, inspection, dimensional verification, and reassembly are performedin accordance withMVS procedures, applicable codes, and repair work instructions.

  • Inspectcomponentconditions,identifynonconformances, and verify assembly quality, coatings, cleanliness, and preservation requirements.

  • Witness or verify functional and pressure testing, ensuring results meet acceptance criteria.

  • Verify required ARMR data and photographs throughout all repair stages (Incoming Inspection, Disassembly, Assembly, and Testing), ensuring real-time documentation and report accuracy.

  • Complete final inspections, issue quality release approvals, and quarantine nonconforming equipment until corrective actions are completed.

  • Audit repair records for compliance with ARMR and customer reporting standards, ensuring traceability and completeness.

  • Track quality trends, report recurring issuesthrough NCRprocess, support root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and recommend process improvements.

  • Partner with supervisors and technicians to reinforce repair standards, quality expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Promote and adhere to all MVS safety requirements, including proper PPE use and safe work practices.

Quality Control Inspector Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diplomarequired

  • Associates Degree in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance, Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or related Technology field Preferred

  • Dedication to a safe work environment through effective housekeeping, workplace safety, etc.

  • Industrial maintenance or industrial valve repair experience preferred

Quality Control Inspector Additional Requirements

  • 3+years of hands-on MVS valve repair experience in the ISO and/or CV departments.

  • Working knowledge of MVS Repair Work Instructions, ARMR reporting, and MVS quality procedures.

  • Solid understanding of control andisolationvalve construction, disassembly/reassembly, and testing.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong documentation and photo/data-entry discipline.

  • Willingness and ability to hold peers accountable to standards and to hold or reject nonconforming work objectively.

  • Ability to read and interpret:

  • Engineering drawings

  • Customer specifications

  • Repair procedures

  • Inspection and test plans

  • Industry codes and standards

Quality Control Inspector Physical Requirements:

  • Ability tolift upto 50lbs

  • Ability to work on your feet for 8 hours per day

  • Must be able tooperatea commercial motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of over10,000 pounds

  • In accordance withU.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, candidates must be able to pass a DOT physical examination as a condition of employment

  • Ability tolift upto 50lbs

  • Ability of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects/tools

  • Ability to work with hand tools

  • Ability to work at heights

  • Ability to stoop, crawl and crouch while working on equipment on hands and knees

  • Ability to work on your feet for 8 hours per day

  • Ability to work in a loud industrial environment

  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment with exposed moving parts

  • Ability to climb stairs (up to 20 flights per day)

  • Ability to climb a 20 ft. ladder

  • Ability to work with up to 480 volts

  • Ability to drive on average 3-4 hours in a day

  • Ability to work in high and cold temperature environments for extended hours

Quality Control Inspector Pay:

  • Hourly Rate: $35-$38
