Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities as a Pellet Mill Operator:
  • Continuously monitor pellet mills, hammer mills, and associated equipment to ensure optimal production and quality. 
  • Anticipate and solve problems promptly; identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Adhere to standard operating instructions and procedures during all operational phases (start-up, shutdown, normal operations). 
  • Maintain safety standards and ensure good housekeeping practices. 
  • Perform basic maintenance to keep equipment clean and in good working order. 
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety through safe behaviors and attitudes. 
  • Solve problems in a safe, logical, quick, and confident manner. 
  • Work flexibly within your competence and communicate effectively internally and externally. 
  • Complete logs and records to document plant checks and operational data. 
  • Cover other positions as needed to meet business demands. 
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, including unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Operate equipment to start, stop, or adjust systems as required. 
  • Inspect equipment and report any damage or mechanical issues. 
  • Record and report operational data (e.g., readings on meters, instruments, and gauges). 
  • Perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods (lifting, walking, working at heights, climbing, pushing, twisting, stooping). 
  • Understand risks associated with work; follow Job Risk Assessments (JRA) and Task Risk Assessments (TRA) to avoid hazards.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • A minimum of 3โ€“5 years of industrial experience is necessary.

  • Conduct quality control inspections and complete all necessary documentation. 
  • Maintain and adjust equipment to maximize production, minimize downtime, and uphold quality standards. 
  • Must demonstrate a professional attitude and collaborate well with others. 
  • Promote a safe working environment by following all workplace policies and safety procedures. 
  • Perform and coordinate regular housekeeping in the facility. 
  • Must possess the competency to learn and become certified to operate mobile equipment.
