Job description

The position of Quality Control Inspector II (NDT/VT) (or Quality Control/Level II NDE (VT, PT) is responsible for performing non-destructive examinations (NDE) and dimensional inspections on ASME Section III and Section VIII vessels and nuclear power plant components. The position supports inspection activities throughout receipt and in-process stages to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures.
Location: Orrville, OH
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform NDE examinations on ASME Section III and Section VIII vessels and nuclear components
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations for acceptance or rejection in accordance with written procedures
  • Record and document inspection results accurately
  • Perform NDE examinations during receipt and in-process inspections of materials used in fabrication
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of inspection tools and equipment
  • Verify calibration status and proper condition of inspection and measuring equipment
  • Ensure inspection, examination, and test procedures are approved prior to use
  • Assist production with setup of materials and components for inspection as required

Requirements:
  • Ability to read Jaeger I chart at a minimum distance of 12 inches and distinguish color contrasts on an Ishihara Test Chart
  • Ability to work at heights and wear required fall protection equipment
  • Physical capability to enter confined spaces, including vessels, towers, and heaters, and perform inspections while wearing SCBA as required
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions including hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy areas
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in the English language (written and verbal)
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office applications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of inspection-related experience, OR
  • Two years of inspection experience with completion of two years of college in a technical or engineering discipline, OR
  • One year of inspection experience with a degree in engineering or science
  • Qualified and certified to ASNT-TC-1A in applicable NDT methods, including Level II Visual Examination (VT)
  • Experience working with ASME, AWS, ISO, and other applicable standards preferred
  • Previous Level II certification with documented classroom and on-the-job training experience preferred
