PROLIM (www.prolim.com) is currently seeking Nondestructive Test (NDT) Examiner
Job Title
Job Summary
The NDT Examiner is responsible for training, examining, certifying, and monitoring NDT personnel to ensure compliance with company, contractual, and regulatory requirements. This role provides technical leadership across NDT programs, including procedure approval, personnel certification, site surveillance, and inspection oversight. The Examiner ensures inspection quality, resolves technical issues, and analyzes inspection trends to support continuous improvement in manufacturing and inspection operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Train, examine, certify, decertify, and recertify NDT personnel in accordance with Company, ASNT, NAVSEA, and contractual requirements
  • Develop, administer, and maintain NDT training and certification programs
  • Approve NDT procedures, techniques, and workmanship standards
  • Provide technical support for the interpretation, qualification, and implementation of NDT specifications and procedures
  • Perform and oversee weld inspections and NDT methods including UT, MT, PT, VT, dimensional, and load testing
  • Conduct site surveillance and monitoring of NDT personnel and inspection activities
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and conduct product re-inspection when required
  • Analyze reject rates and workmanship trends; prepare technical and interpretive reports
  • Provide counseling and corrective guidance to inspection personnel
  • Ensure compliance with shipbuilding, mechanical, piping, and structural inspection requirements

Required Certifications & Experience
  • Certified Nondestructive Test Examiner
    • ASNT Level III or NAVSEA 250-1500-1 Test Examiner
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant inspection experience as a certified examiner
  • UT certification with documented hours and supporting records
  • Experience performing inspections on mechanical, piping, or structural systems
  • Prior military NDT experience preferred (HT-4944 VT/MT/PT/UT Inspector)

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering plus 2 years of certified inspection experience
    OR
  • 5+ years of NDT technical experience (shipbuilding industry preferred) demonstrating equivalent theoretical and applied knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of NDT methods, techniques, and underlying physical, chemical, and mathematical principles
  • Proven analytical, documentation, and technical reporting skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Required Safety Training & Medical Clearance
(Provided and documented by Leased Labor Provider Company - LLPC)
  • Confined Space Entry (OSHA 29 CFR 1915, Subpart B)
  • Hazard Communication (29 CFR 1915.1200 / 1910.1200)
  • Respirator medical clearance, training, and fit testing (29 CFR 1910.134)
  • Fall Protection & Body Harness training (29 CFR 1915 & ANSI Z359.1)
  • PPE training (29 CFR 1915 Subpart I & 29 CFR 1910.95)
  • Audiometric testing in compliance with OSHA hearing conservation standards

Minimum to Maximum Experience
Minimum: 5 years NDT experience
Preferred: 7-10+ years (shipbuilding or heavy industrial environment)
