Field Service Technician I

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Universal Technician I (Field Service Technician) to join our Technical Operations team. This role is responsible for the installation and activation of fiber and coaxial drop systems from the tap to the customer's home. Technicians ensure proper grounding, signal termination, and placement of electronics, while educating customers on their home equipment.ย 


Technicians work in both indoor and outdoor environments and must be prepared to handle a variety of weather conditions and natural elements.


The Universal Technician I is the first step in a three-tier progression and is expected to advance to Universal Technician II within three months. Advancement requires successful completion of SCTE courses.


What You'll Do:

  • Plan and execute network installations based on customer orders and technical specifications
  • Install new connects, reconnects, disconnects, and customer premise equipment (HD/DVR/DIG)
  • Install high-speed data (HSD), wireless systems, and fiber to the home (including ONT and streaming devices)
  • Read and interpret system design maps, blueprints and document configurations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve service issues using diagnostic strategies; as well as testing circuits and equipment to verify service
  • Operate company vehicle and equipment safely (e.g., ladders, bucket trucks_ while maintaining and managing inventory of equipment and supplies
  • Follow all company policies, including EEO and safety guidelines

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent - required
  • Formal ย ย ย ย ย electronics training, NCTI, SCTE Certification - preferred
  • 1 year ย ย ย ย ย of experience in the telecommunications industry - preferred
