Job description

NCI Affiliates is a mission-driven non-profit organization dedicated to empowering adults with intellectual and physical disabilities to achieve greater independence and reach their personal and professional goals. As a Community Living Instructor, you will play a vital role in teaching essential life skills, supporting clients in their daily routines, and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community, work collaboratively with a dedicated team, and grow professionally. Flexible, part-time roles are available, and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Weekends, evenings availability required.

Responsibilities
  • Teach independent living skills to adults with intellectual and physical disabilities in their homes and within the community.
  • Support clients with daily living activities such as budgeting, using public transportation, and managing appointments.
  • Assist clients with medication routines and accompany them to necessary appointments.
  • Promote the development of social skills and encourage positive community interactions.
  • Encourage healthy leisure activities and effective use of free time.
  • Guide and support clients in developing self-advocacy skills.
  • Help clients enhance their financial management abilities and safeguard against exploitation.
  • Facilitate the acquisition and improvement of adaptive skills and behaviors.
  • Plan and participate in community-based activities as part of the Social Wellness Program, including Saturdays.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License for at least 2 years.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.
  • Reliable transportation; driving is required.
  • Flexible schedule to meet program needs, including weekends.
  • Patience, compassion, and the ability to serve as a positive role model for adults with disabilities.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
Compensation

$23.00 per hour, EXPECTED START RATE
Monday 9-5:30
Wednesday 9-5:20
Saturday: 5 hours of social recreation
Occasional evening shifts a few times a month for social recreation
