Student Assistant - Athletics Equipment Manager (Fall)
Job no: 493268
Work type: Student
Location: Norman

Pay Range: Targeted salary of $7.50-$10.00/hour, based on education and experience.
Benefits Eligible: No
Work Schedule: Rotating Shift Schedule
Travel: May be required
Position Introduction:
Job Duties:
  • Assist with all facets of athletic equipment and uniforms assigned varsity intercollegiate athletic teams.
  • Ensures that all equipment and uniform needs are met for assigned sports' practices and competitions.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures regarding distribution of equipment for assigned intercollegiate sports.
  • Adheres to OSHA requirements, and NCAA regulations with regards to equipment safety.
  • Assist with all laundry room operations. Stores necessary laundry and supplies for use by Athletic Department staff.
  • Assist with facility event set-up for all varsity intercollegiate athletic teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Applicants will be assigned to any of the 21 varsity sports within the OU Athletics Department.
  • Assignment is determined by head coaches and full-time Equipment staff members.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 Term as an undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
  • Must attach Fall 2026 OU class schedule

Skills:
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays if needed.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletic programs, and specifically equipment room operations.
  • Applicants must be team oriented, accountable and able to work independently.

Department Preferences:
  • Experience as an equipment manager, youth sports coach/referee, or student-athlete.
