**Essential Duties and Responsibilities - What you'll own:

**CMM Programming & Inspection

**

  • Develop, validate, and maintain CMM programs for complex machined parts using PC-DMIS, working from 2D drawings and 3D CAD models

  • Execute layout (first-piece buy-off), in-process, and final inspection with precision and repeatability

  • Perform handheld inspection using micrometers, calipers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages, comparators, and radius pins

  • Design and specify fixturing requirements for CMM applications; engage Manufacturing Engineering to fabricate work-holding solutions

**First Article & Quality Support

**

  • Lead or support First Article Inspections (FAIs) from initial setup through customer-deliverable reporting

  • Generate clear, complete inspection reports for internal review and direct customer submission

  • Develop inspection methods, tool maps, and in-process check plans in collaboration with the quality team

  • Maintain SPC measurement cadence and keep records current and audit-ready

**Equipment & Standards Stewardship

**

  • Manage CMM probe qualifications, machine calibration schedules, and preventive maintenance logs

  • Calibrate shop gages (pins, calipers, mics, height gages, thread gages) to traceable standards

  • Actively contribute to the QMS and quality objectives; engage in corrective action programs for non conforming parts

  • Recommend measuring instruments and process improvements aligned with customer and AS9100 requirements

**Shop Floor Collaboration

**

  • Partner with machinists, shop leads, and NC programmers to troubleshoot complex part features and measurement challenges

  • Communicate proactively with leadership on inspection status, non-conformances, and capacity

**What You Bring:

**

**Required:

**

  • 5+ years of CMM programming and operation experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment

  • Superior working knowledge of PC-DMIS; ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot programs independently

  • Advanced GD&T — you can read a callout, understand its intent, and build a measurement routine that captures it correctly

  • Hands-on experience with the full range of precision hand tools in high-tolerance environments

  • Working knowledge of AS9100 QMS requirements and how they apply on the floor

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Adobe PDF for inspection reporting

  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification in Quality or Inspection preferred

  • US Person as defined by ITAR (required for all positions in our facility)

**Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience with Zeiss CMMs running Calypso metrology software

  • Ability to extract dimensional data from CAD and MBD files using SolidWorks

  • FAI experience with customer-facing deliverable packages

  • Exposure to SPC methodology and measurement systems analysis (MSA/Gage R&R)

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

**

This role is performed in a precision manufacturing environment. It requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, bending, and walking throughout the shift. Must be able to lift, push, pull, or move up to 25 lbs regularly. Visual acuity sufficient to read fine-print drawings and detect part-feature detail is essential.
