Job description

Position Overview:

The Social Media Intern will support and learn from the Digital Team of the Washington Wizards (NBA).

Are you a current student or recent graduate looking for hands-on digital experience in the sports industry? We'd love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the ideation, planning, and creation of engaging social media content for the Washington Wizards, Jr. Wizards, and Wizards Retail accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Media Team to implement "social-first" content ideas and strategy.
  • Support the development of engaging content for auxiliary accounts such as Jr. Wizards and Retail.
  • Monitor social media trends to identify new content opportunities.
  • Pull social media analytics reports for tentpole events.
  • Coordinate with Digital team members for daily social media responsibilities, including drafting, scheduling, and publishing posts across social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube.
  • Capture real-time photo/video content at games and community events.
  • Help maintain the organization of the content calendar and digital assets for distribution among all Digital team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current undergraduate, graduate student, or recent graduate.
  • Experience in social media publishing for a team, brand, or company.
  • Availability to work 25 hours per week from September 2026 to May 2027.
  • Previous experience with photography is preferred.
  • In-depth experience with Premiere Pro, Photoshop & Lightroom is a plus.
  • Experience in shooting/editing video content for social media.
  • Deep understanding and awareness of TikTok & Reels style of editing and curation.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to balance and prioritize several projects at once.
  • Knowledgeable about NBA Players and teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Availability to work most Washington Wizards games and additional flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed throughout the NBA season.
Pay Rate: $18.40 USD/hour
