Position Summary

TheDirect-to-Consumer (DTC)Strategy & Analysis team is a key part oftheNBA's DTCMonetizationgroup.The Monetizationgroupfocuses ongrowingthe NBA's digital DTC business globally (including League Pass subscriptions,advertising,NBAIDmembership, and overall digital platform),throughdata-driven insights and decision making. Theyworkdynamically within a matrix organization to align efforts acrossPartnerships,Marketing,Finance,Content, Product,andMembership,among others.

The DTC Strategy & Analysisteamplaysa keypartin growing the global direct-to-consumer business at the NBA.Theyownbusinessperformance analysis,leadboth short-term and long-termforecasting efforts, drive on ad hoc special projects andadvisesenior leadership onkey strategic decisions.This includes preparing complex financial models, presentation materials, industry peer group comparisons, evaluation of new business opportunities, and other analyses as needed. In collaboration withthe broader Monetization group andsenior leadership, this function helpssetthe overall strategy for the DTC business, using data-driven insights to fuel growth.The ideal candidate has a firm understanding of all thekeymetrics for a DTC business andhas a strong intuition for how theyimpactperformance and decision making.

Major Responsibilities

  • Leadfinancial & strategic analyses toinformthe strategic direction of the NBA's global DTC business

  • Developcomplexfinancialmodelsat a granular market/cohort levelwith limited oversight,to grow the DTC business across subscription, advertising,partnershipsand other monetization streams

  • Analyzekey performance driversacrossall areas of revenue and expenses,includinge.g.pricing and packaging, user acquisition, engagement, and retention - and aid in the development of high impact strategic initiatives to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risks

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholderson league-wide initiativesand media strategy, providing insights & analysisforrelevant DTC components

  • Prepare compelling presentations to communicate business performance to senior leadership as well as regional andcross-functional teams.

  • Lead performance tracking against departmental and company goals through the creation and distribution of pacing,reforecastand presentation materials on a regular cadence

  • Perform ad hoc analyses to drive high impact decisions and/or set targets for key initiativesand analyzesubsequentperformance

  • Analyze complex financial information across industry comps toserve as benchmarks for internal analysesandinformstrategy

Required Education/Professional Experience

  • 3+ years of relevant work experienceine.g.Investment Banking,StrategyConsulting, Private Equity, Media, and/or Tech industries

  • Work experienceinsubscription-based media preferred

  • Bachelor's degree orequivalent

Salary Range:

$140,000 - $155,000
