Description:

Description Shipboard Electrical Engineering Technician: Supporting the US Navy with shipboard electrical installations and troubleshooting while maintaining reports of work done and action items found. This position requires an active security clearance. 

Location: Work is located at various Norfolk and East Coast shipyards. Must be located within reasonable driving distance to downtown San Diego/Naval Base Norfolk. Travel to other Navy homeports and shipyards expected. EHS has in house support staff for planning travel.

Requirements:

Shipboard Electrical Engineering Technician Specific duties include:

· Provide electrical installation support for Interior Communications (IC) and network systems on board US Navy ships.

· Provide troubleshooting of IC and network systems on board US Navy ships.

· Provide details reporting of work completed and issues found during work. 

Required Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or Trade School Diploma (related military experience can qualify as education)
Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance
Shipboard Electrical Engineering Technician Required Experience:

· One (1) year of experience on board US Navy ships working as an electrical technician and installer. Electrical Connector Certified.

· Familiar with shipboard fiber optics and MIL-STD-2042 requirements.

· Familiar with discrete, analog synchro, RS-422 serial, and Ethernet interfaces.

· Knowledge of US Navy surface ship maintenance and repair manuals (JFMM, GSO, EPISM, NIMB, NAVSEA Standard Items) and  reporting procedures.

· Familiar with reading NAVSEA Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs)

· Familiar with writing status reports and using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

· Can accomplish tasking and maintain regular attendance without oversight.
