What is a Navy Civil Engineer?

Navy Civil Engineers are professionals who design, construct, and maintain the Navy’s shore facilities, such as bases, airfields, and ports. They are responsible for ensuring that these facilities are safe, efficient, and capable of supporting naval operations. Civil Engineers in the Navy may also be involved in humanitarian projects, disaster recovery, and environmental protection. They serve as both technical experts and commissioned officers, leading teams of military and civilian personnel. Their work is essential to the operational readiness and infrastructure of the U.S. Navy.
