Summary

Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! The Elevator Support Unit is seeking an experience trainer to be apart of the team that helps develop and deliver training programs on electro-hydraulic & mechanical, and pneumatic systems to include Cargo weapons elevators, Aircraft elevators, Vertical Package Conveyors and Hanger/Divisional Doors aboard U.S. Naval Carriers. Travel will be required at scheduled request to deliver developed training to the crews of naval ships; that may include getting underway and/or flown on and off the ship. (Norfolk, Newport News, Portsmouth, Bremerton, San Diego, and Japan). This is a full-time position, located in San Diego, CA.

*This position does not provide relocation assistance.

What You Will Do
  • Design and develop technical training shipboard training for all levels of personnel via technical references Tech Manual, Blue Prints, drawings etc.
  • Develop test, visual aids, and develop a criteria for evaluating effectiveness of developed training.
  • Communicate with the leadership of the customer and build a bond for future encounters.
  • Develop an in-house program and practice to identify developmental needs, including preparing the assignments.
  • Be responsible for development of E-learning and possibly a Virtual reality system.
  • Utilize student guides and other training aids aboard a US Carrier.
What You Must Have
  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Must have knowledge/understanding of training principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Must have advanced knowledge in shipboard Aircraft and Weapons Elevators Electro-Hydraulic systems, general knowledge in Advanced Weapons Elevators Systems, and Vertical Package Conveyors.
  • Must have hands on experience and working knowledge of shipboard electrical and/or electro-hydraulic systems.

  • Must have experience communicating with government or related customers.

  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to carry up to 50lbs of student guides and other training aids aboard a US Carrier.

  • Must be able to travel.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access credentials.

Preferred: Bonus Points For
  • Naval Master Training Specialist preferred.
  • A current, valid DoD confidential security clearance or higher. 
  • Hands on experience and/or working knowledge of shipboard mechanical and/or pneumatic systems preferred. 
Physical Requirements
May require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
