Location: Homyak PK-8
Homyak PK-8 School is seeking a passionate and innovative 6th 8th Grade STEM Teacher to design and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction rooted in real-world applications relevant to our local and regional community. This position emphasizes mining, oil and gas, coding, building construction, engineering design, and land management, while building strong foundations in problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking.
The ideal candidate brings curiosity, creativity, and a commitment to preparing students for future pathways in STEM careers, trades, and advanced academic opportunities
Salary Range: Salary Information
Salary Range: $48,000 $103,560
All verified years of relevant experience will be credited based on education and experience. This position may qualify for up to five additional steps on the certified salary schedule, depending on education and experience. Tuition reimbursement opportunities are available to support continued professional growth.
Qualifications for the Position
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Education with a Secondary Science endorsement/emphasis required.
  • Candidates with an Elementary Education endorsement will be considered if they have completed 24 semester hours in a Science or can pass the required Science content assessment to add the endorsement.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a Colorado Teacher License with a Secondary Science endorsement issued by the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards and state assessments, with the ability to implement data-driven instruction in a standards-based classroom.
  • Proven ability to promote student academic success; middle school Science experience preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills; experience with middle school teaming preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology preferred.
  • Coaching opportunities may be available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement standards-aligned STEM curriculum for grades 6 8 with authentic, project-based learning experiences
  • Integrate real-world applications connected to:
  • Mining and natural resource extraction
  • Oil and gas systems and safety
  • Coding, automation, and basic computer science
  • Building construction, engineering design, and materials science
  • Land management, environmental science, and sustainability
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences such as labs, design challenges, simulations, and collaborative projects
  • Explicitly teach engineering practices, data analysis, and computational thinking
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including English Learners and students with IEPs or 504 plans
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student growth and adjust instruction
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages curiosity and innovation
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and administrators
  • Participate in PLCs, professional development, and school-wide initiatives
  • Maintain clear communication with students and families regarding progress and expectations
