The Opportunity

TC Energy Marketing Inc. is seeking a Natural Gas Originator to join our Houston-based office. The U.S. Gas Marketing group plays a critical role in driving value by embracing market risk, enhancing returns, and fostering innovation, with a strong focus on supporting the long-term success of U.S. natural gas infrastructure.

Reporting to the Manager, Energy Origination, this role will serve as a regional expert in identifying and executing structured commercial opportunities across the Midwest, Northeast or Texas & Gulf Coast markets. The successful candidate will demonstrate differentiated market insight and the ability to convert opportunities into executable transactions. This position offers significant career growth potential for individuals who consistently demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking and a strong commitment to value creation. The role operates within a broader, enterprise-wide origination platform.

What you'll do

  • Commercial Origination & Execution
    • Develop, evaluate, and execute structured natural gas transactions, including term supply, sales, transportation, storage, and asset-backed deals.
    • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of origination opportunities aligned with overall commercial strategy.
  • Regional Market Development
    • Establish and expand the company's physical and commercial presence across the Midwest, Northeast or Texas & Gulf Coast regions.
    • Leverage market intelligence and customer engagement to identify emerging opportunities and trends.
  • Strategic Collaboration
    • Partner closely with Trading to define and execute regional commercial strategy.
    • Support portfolio optimization through asset evaluation, structured transactions, and potential acquisitions that complement the existing asset base.
    • Work cross-functionally with Contracts, Legal, Risk, and Credit to structure and close transactions efficiently.
  • Asset & Structured Transactions
    • Evaluate pipeline transportation and storage opportunities.
    • Structure and negotiate asset management agreements that maximize value for both customers and the trading portfolio.
  • Market Intelligence & Insight
    • Develop and communicate market views based on customer interactions, regional fundamentals, and infrastructure dynamics.
    • Provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders to support trading and risk decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in natural gas origination, marketing, or trading within the Midwest, Northeast or Texas & Gulf Coast regions.
  • Strong understanding of regional supply and demand fundamentals, pipeline flows, and market dynamics.
  • Built customer relationships in the Midwest, Northeast or Texas & Gulf Coast natural gas market with utilities, power generators, pipelines, and storage facilities.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen with experience structuring transactions across the natural gas value chain (upstream, midstream, and downstream).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to lead complex transactions and collaborate across functions.
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard agreements (ISDA, NAESB).
