Job description


I. Job Summary
Ensures the safe and efficient daily operation of the landfill laboratory. 
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Manages all laboratory personnel, data, and quality control.
  • Implements waste analysis plan and RCRA regulations as it pertains to analysis and testing.
  • Reviews special waste to determine acceptability for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Performs routine laboratory functions as assigned.
  • Facilitates the receipt of materials for treatment and disposal in compliance with WM policies and procedures, including state and federal guidelines.
  • Applies appropriate treatment and disposal methodologies to be utilized at the facility for the specific waste.
  • Ensures that the health and safety of the employees and environment is maximized.
  • Oversees personnel needs of the laboratory including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Works with other supervisors/managers to coordinate services and keep them informed as issues arise.
  • Keeps district manager fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
  • Makes personal contact with customers and assists them with questions and/or concerns as appropriate.
  • Ensures safety, cleanliness and organization of laboratory work area and related storage areas.
  • Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees.
  • Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
  • Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.


III. Qualifications 
A. Required Qualifications 
 

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Chemistry, or in lieu of degree,
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

Pay: The expected base pay range for this on-site position is $95,700 - $121,990 per year. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
