Job description

Description
Performs hematology, coagulation, chemistry, blood bank, urinalysis, serology, immunology, microbiology, and phlebotomy procedures in a timely and reliable manner in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Assists department supervisors with daily operational activities and troubleshooting issues. Participates in the implementation of new methodologies, develops procedural protocols, and trains laboratory personnel in the operation of instrumentation and testing procedures.
Participates in Performance Improvement (PI) activities and supports the hospital in maintaining compliance with CAP, CLIA, and DNV-GL accreditation standards. Ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and regulatory agency requirements. Exercises independent judgment in recognizing, troubleshooting, and resolving problems as part of daily job responsibilities.
Requirements
Education
  • Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited internship program and MLT registry examination, or registry eligible.

Experience
  • Clinical experience obtained through completion of program requirements qualifying the candidate of registry examination.

Certification
  • Nationally recognized certification preferred, such as MLT (ASCP).

Special Qualifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Basic computer proficiency preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team to ensure quality patient care.
