What you'll be able to do:

We are seeking a Construction Resident Engineer (RE) with experience with bridge replacements for a project in Rochester area, NY (Monroe County). This role will begin immediately and requires overseeing inspection staff and construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory standards. The RE will coordinate directly with contractor, monitor progress to ensure Contractor schedule is being met, conduct job progress meetings, and document project activities from initiation through completion.

Position: Full Time

Hours: Same as Contractor Hours, typically 7:00am-3:30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Oversight:
Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.
Conduct daily field inspections and document site activities and progress.
Identify and document any construction issues, non-conformance, or safety concerns.
Promote and enforce safety practices in accordance with OSHA and project-specific standards.

Project Administration:
Maintain daily diary reports.
Monitor OE duties of tracking quantities and process contractor payment applications.
Coordinate materials testing, verification, and inspection procedures.
Communicate regularly with client representatives regarding project status.

The minimum requirements we seek:

NICET Level IV certification or equivalent experience (required).
At least 10 years of relevant field inspection experience, preferably with New York State DOT or New York State Thruway Authority.
Proficiency in computer-aided project administration software.
PE Certification preferred.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience may be considered.
OSHA 10 certification and strong knowledge of construction site safety practices.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to and between project locations in Onondaga County.
