About the Sandy Hook PromiseAction Fund Team
The Sandy Hook Promise Action Fund (SHPAF) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization committed to protecting all children from gun violence in schools, homes, and communities. The SHP Action Fund advances a holistic policy platform that promotes gun safety, youth mental health, and violence prevention education. The organization works at the state and federal level to pass nonpartisan legislation through inclusive partnerships, diverse grassroots education, and community mobilization. It is part of Sandy Hook Promise, founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.

Location
We are a U.S. based organization and this position is remote. This role will require 20% travel (on an as-needed basis).
Candidates should reside within a reasonable distance of a major airport to ensure efficient, cost-effective travel. Team members are expected to make thoughtful travel decisions that balance cost, convenience, and sustainability.
About the Role
The Manager, National Engagement is a member of the Sandy Hook Promise Action Fund team. This team member will manage a portfolio of national engagement campaigns and initiatives to deepen supporter engagement and grassroots organizing efforts. This person will develop multi-faceted grassroots engagement plans in our national scope and collaborate closely with internal teams and external volunteers to execute those plans.
The Manager, National Engagement will report to the Director, National Engagement.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage, develop and deliver action-oriented campaign plans focused on enhancing volunteer engagement for select national initiatives.
  • Own and lead a portfolio of national initiatives focused on engaging supporters in violence prevention in key territories.
  • Proactively and reactively communicate with supporters and volunteers in key territories to establish and build relationships.
  • Initiate and ideate tactics to deliver impact to national engagement strategies and goals.
  • Collaborate closely with internal subject matter experts to stay abreast of relevant developments and partnerships that impact campaign plans.
  • Regularly evaluate and assess effectiveness of campaigns and initiate pivots as necessary.
  • Travel for in-person activations and trainings, up to 20%.
  • A commitment to SHP's mission and values.
  • Other duties identified as organizational needs.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • 5 years' experience in volunteer management, grassroots organizing and/or campaign management, including in non-election settings
  • Familiarity with building supporter-facing relationships and developing grassroots leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, sometimes with competing deadlines and rapid response needs
  • Strong communicator, skilled at translating complex concepts into motivating and inspiring calls-to-action
  • Creative problem solver, eager to tackle and untangle problems to produce innovative solutions
  • Active collaborator and engaged team member
  • Flexible and adaptable to pivots and changes in project scopes, as needed.
Benefits and Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000.
SHP uses a structured internal rubric to guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay. Typically, new hires are placed at the start of the salary range to ensure equity with current employees, and as a practice, we do not negotiate salaries.

Our organization operates within a distributed workforce, allowing for location flexibility across the country for most positions. We provide remote office support for all staff, which includes a laptop, home office reimbursement, monthly Wi-Fi reimbursement up to $40, and monthly cell phone reimbursement up to $50.
