Job description

Summary Gain practical work experience through delivering personal training services to BGSU Student Recreation Center members using the recommended methods of NSCA, ACSM, ACE, NASM or an accredited personal training certification. Career Readiness Competencies: Communication Critical Thinking Professionalism Essential Functions Demonstrate knowledge of exercise principles, kinesiology, and biomechanics. Educate participants on proper and safe exercise form, including exercise modification.

Design personalized fitness programs in strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility. Conduct fitness assessments to aid in goal setting and tracking progress to keep participants motivated. Motivate, lead, and guide participants to an effective workout with enthusiasm.

Act as First Responder to accidents and incidents. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, professional mannerisms, friendly demeanor, and ability to interact with all populations. Work independently and in a team.

Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive rapport with patrons and coworkers. Maintain client database and record keeping. Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in Recreation and Wellness Student Employee Manual.

Promote and support the mission of the Department of Recreation and Wellness. Attend personal trainer meetings. Participate in campus Recreation and Wellness special events.

Assist with equipment cleaning and inspection. Mentor new personal trainers and complete peer evaluations. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

May be required to be hired as a Fitness Attendant for decreased pay. Minimum Qualifications Possess and maintain current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications. Possess ability to work with office/computer equipment.

Possess and maintain NSCA, ACSM, ACE, NASM or an accredited personal training certification.
