Job description

The Global Football team is part of Nike's Brand Creative organization, developing distinct, Nike-only stories that shape how the brand shows up in football around the world.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
As Brand Narrative & Writing Lead on Global Football, you'll drive the creative strategy, ideation, and storytelling architecture behind distinct, Nike-only football campaigns. You'll bring a deep knowledge of brilliant, attacking football to stories that evoke emotion and inspire action - playing a pivotal role in a fast-paced, highly dynamic creative studio.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You'll use the power of words to add nuance and tonality to brand and product marketing campaigns, partnering with cross-functional colleagues to land the big concept, then ideate and write stories that take us somewhere new. Primary tasks include deftly articulating creative concepts; crafting thoughtful and persuasive messaging systems; and pitching platform-right content strategies.
  • End-to-end football storytelling - drive campaigns from creative strategy and concept ideation through narrative architecture and writing executions across multiple channels.
  • Ideas before content - bring an obsession with football, athletes and product innovation to uncover distinctive angles and build ideas grounded in real athlete, sport and product truths.
  • Creative partnership - collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to explore different angles into a story, then develop its creative expression across platforms.
  • Platform-right storytelling - translate big creative ideas into writing that feels native and compelling across social, digital, retail and other consumer touchpoints.
  • Creative agility - bring an open mind to feedback and iterate quickly and thoughtfully as strategies, briefs and story angles pivot.
  • Presentation & influence - present work with confidence and clarity, articulating the thinking behind every creative choice and using language to align partners and move ideas forward.
  • Seasonal creative stewardship - shepherd stories from concept through production against seasonal timelines, maintaining the integrity of the idea as the work evolves.
  • Football expertise - stay relentlessly immersed in the global game: the athletes, clubs, competitions, culture and evolving ways football is played and experienced. Bring that knowledge into the work in ways that make Nike Football storytelling sharper, more credible and more distinctive.
  • Creative resilience - thrive in a fast-moving environment with multiple stakeholders, shifting inputs and high expectations, while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented approach and a high creative bar.
  • Stories grounded in athlete & product truths - exhibit traits of a skilled interviewer who brings a storytelling angle to conversations with athlete protagonists and product designers. Seek out the expertise of Product Writing colleagues for innovation stories. Champion the story on set.
  • Editing acumen - be a skilled editor with a ruthless pen, curating content and shaping multiple sources of information into a clear, concise, and on-brand story.
  • Writer's room - proactively reach out to the Narrative & Writing colleagues around you, collaborating to explore new angles, stress-test rationale, workshop lines, and build community.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will work within a fast-paced, highly dynamic creative studio, partnering closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, Narrative Directors, Brand Marketing, Product and Innovation, Production and Operations, Social and Digital teams as well as external agencies and creators.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Deep knowledge of Global Football and a genuine obsession with the game, its athletes, culture and product innovation.
  • Bachelor's degree in writing or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and raining.
  • Outstanding copywriting skills, paired with a strategic mindset and the ability to turn complex inputs into simple, powerful ideas.
  • Agency, freelance or in-house experience partnering with Art & Design to develop integrated stories across multiple platforms.
  • Proven ability to drive end-to-end storytelling, from early creative strategy and concept ideation through final writing executions.
  • Strong presentation skills and the confidence to articulate, defend and evolve creative ideas - knowing that every word matters.
  • An open and collaborative mindset, with the ability to receive feedback and iterate quickly as strategies and story angles evolve.
  • Ability to thrive under the scrutiny of multiple stakeholders and maintain creative ambition in an ever-shifting landscape.
  • Fluency in Keynote and Figma

This role is based on-site at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
**Must include a portfolio to be considered**
