Job description

Wanted: An educator (or aspiring educator - no certification needed because we will train you!) who's detail-oriented, data-driven, and charismatic enough to convince a cohort of high-schoolers to do their homework every week.

You will be working exclusively with teenagers. Yes, teenagers - those self-involved, irrational, capricious, and willful creatures. They can be fussy and critical, and sometimes they smell bad. But we love 'em. And so must you. A dynamic personality is absolutely required, but you must also be ready, willing, and able to set limits -- adolescents can get carried away. We want someone who can speak to teenagers on their own terms, so the right person must be well versed in current sports, music, movies, and culture.

The ideal candidate possesses an inherent curiosity about the process of developing individualized educational plans while remaining flexible. You should be coachable and open to criticism, and acknowledge that the work we do with kids is a practice, not a job. You need be confident navigating math and science curriculum at the high school level, have superb organizational skills, the ability to think critically, and appropriate professional judgment.

You will also have the opportunity to be considered for our rotational program and train across multiple disciplines, so that you can expand your skills and develop new ways to engage with students. For us, academic skill building is not just about getting students better grades. At base, it's about building their self-confidence and teaching them how they learn best. If you're interested in that work, submit a resume and cover letter to hr@freudigman.com. Full-time and part-time positions available. Find out more at www.freudigman.com

Why Join Freudigman & Billings?

Predictable hours at a single office location: Almost always, our work with students takes place at our 11,000 square foot headquarters in Westport, CT on Sundays from 11am to 7:30pm and Monday through Thursday from 12:30pm to 9pm. Students are encouraged to utilize our space not only to see their instructors, but to do homework, hang out with friends, have a snack, get some advice, or even catch a quick nap during finals week. Instructors are provided with a private classroom, a whiteboard, and all materials necessary for a productive session. No unpaid time as you drive from house to house!

Teamwork: We work closely together on a daily basis to create and execute individualized learning plans, meaning that our work is far more comprehensive and impactful than a transactional hour of "tutoring." We are proud of the collegiality that our building and our philosophy inspires, as well as the team of educators we have attracted as a result.

Professional development: We care about our staff and teaching you how to teach. Our team of Directors have PhDs, Masters degrees, and other certifications to help you achieve your goals and help you gain mastery of your own instructional techniques. You will learn our pedagogy and have the opportunity to experience career growth.

Administrative support: We have a full time team that handles scheduling, billing, inventory and printing of materials, and administration and scoring of practice exams.
