Position Summary
This position is responsible for crating, wrapping or packaging materials and equipment for storage and/or transportation, using various materials to ensure asset protection, and safely loading those materials.
Reports To: Logistics Manager
Work Location: 2001 Proenergy Blvd, Sedalia, MO 65301
Position Responsibilities
  • Fabricates wooden crates, boxes, platforms, multi-slot crates per instructions and customer requirements.
  • Utilizes woodworking hand tools and powered tools, and packs such items as hardware, parts, large or odd-shaped material.
  • Operates hand, shop tools and powered equipment common to carpentry trade while observing safety procedures and practices common to carpentry work on-site and in-shop.
  • Saws materials to size using handsaws and power saws.
  • Assembles materials, using nailing or stapling machine, screws, bolts, glue, and hand tools.
  • Places product in crate/container verifying piece quantity and proper nomenclature.
  • Secures heavy pieces to bottom of container or skid.
  • Wraps and pads product with packaging material.
  • Builds crate around large or odd shaped articles.
  • Wraps and tightens metal bands around crate, using banding equipment.
  • Estimates material requirements from drawings, blueprints, or written instructions.
  • Package per customer requirements; crating heat shrinking, vacuum pack to ensure material integrity for transportation.
  • Attaches identification labels or stencils as required per customer requirements with type of product contained in crate.
  • Counts items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders.
  • Verifies weight and dimensions for shipping.
  • Transports crates/container to the shipping area.
  • Transports materials and supplies to crating area.
  • Assists in ordering, receiving, and recording of lumber for inventory per IPSM regulations and WPM Audit.
  • Assists in offloads of trucks operating appropriate equipment to accomplish in a safe and secure manner as needed.
  • Performs all other duties and task assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of carpentry experience; or equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check

  • Experience of using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws and nail guns
  • Must be a team player.
  • Previous experience operating various size forklifts and other powered material handling equipment.
