Accountant - Management Services

NAI North Star

Mankato, MN | Full-Time | Monday–Friday | In-Office

NAI North Star is expanding, and we're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Mankato, Minnesota.

If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems, and making an impact across a diverse real estate portfolio, we'd love to meet you. This role provides the opportunity to work with a variety of commercial real estate assets while collaborating with an experienced and growing property management team.

About the Role

As part of our finance team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of properties spanning multiple asset classes, including:

  • Commercial Office
  • Retail
  • Industrial
  • Multifamily
  • Development

You'll work closely with property managers, ownership groups, and vendors to ensure accurate financial reporting and exceptional service to our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting reports
  • Maintain general ledger and reconcile bank accounts
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Reconcile tenant accounts and assist with billing
  • Assist with annual budgets and forecasting
  • Prepare owner distributions and financial reporting packages
  • Support annual audits and tax preparation
  • W-9 procurement, setup of vendors, preparation of 1099’s
  • Prepare annual Certificates of Rent Paid for residential tenants
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Work collaboratively with property managers to resolve accounting issues

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Property accounting or real estate accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles
  • Experience with accounting software (property management software experience is a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
