Job description

Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the set-up, support and productionof high-quality products and to help create a highly productive workenvironment.
  • Supporting responsibilities include planning, checking,establishing a sequence of work to fabricate, assemble and inspecthardware to planning, engineering and quality control requirements; onwhere applicable.
  • Duties - The Company will provide appropriate jobtraining to enable employees to perform all necessary job functionsincluding developing new and improved methods of production.
  • Performmulti-tasking and multi-machine operation. Use any equipment (e.g.,hand, power tools, air tools, scanners and computers) needed toprioritize, complete and process work assignments.
  • Perform any pickup,touchup, rework, part mark and incorporation of changes to the productas required. Work from prints, sketches, specifications andwritten/verbal information. Maintain certifications, qualifications,licenses or permits as required to perform work.
  • Utilizes precisionmeasuring equipment (calipers, scales, etc.) to perform self-inspectionof in-process and finished work.
  • Ensure that all FDAQ (Factory DataAcQuisition) is completed according to work instructions.
  • Performroutine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties(e.g., replacing machine filters, lubrication/coolant levels, etc. asrelated to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties).
  • Read andinterpret blueprints, sketches, technique sheets, work orders, and otherdocumentation required to complete operation per engineering.
  • Routinely move product within the shop-defined area, including across aisle, using shop assigned equipment as required, and complete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation.
  • Performs verification ofdimensions of parts using both mechanical and electronic precisionmeasurement tools.
  • Perform inspection MVP, including first part review,of fabricated parts and assemblies.
  • Initiate and document any non-conforming condition.
  • Maintain required certifications andqualifications as needed. (e.g. SLS, BAC, Nadcap, AS9100, crane, sealer,liquid nitrogen, vehicle ops).
  • Ensure compliance with applicableprocesses (e.g., FOD, Hazmat, OSHA, QMS).
  • Support the continuous flow ofproduct within the manufacturing process by training and assistingemployees of the same or lower classification level.
  • Set up and operate computer-controlled/automated shot peening andabrasive blast equipment including: identification of areas requiringpeening, part set-up, coverage and intensity requirements, developmentof saturation curves for a part, intensity verification procedures, mask and unmask as require, re-work procedures.
  • Load control media, such ascomputer tape, in control console of equipment, or enter commands toretrieve control instructions from the computer database to operateequipment automatically.
  • Fill the hopper with specific size and media.
  • Measure and check test specimen or part to verify conformance tospecifications and to determine required equipment adjustments, usingmeasuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Develop length, locationand arrangement of electrical/tubing for production mock-ups or aninitial installation of a design change for a production product.
  • Establish and perform all metallic heat treat operations to harden, caseharden, temper, draw, normalize, age, anneal and otherwise heat treatmetals in accordance with specifications and procedures.
  • Perform functions of all furnaces (Drop Bottom Furnace, Salt Bath, Air Furnace)required to process work assignments.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Minimum 2 years Shot Peening experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications (e.g., BAC standards).
  • Experience working with technical documentation such as product tech sheets and process guidelines.
  • All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks.

Summary Pay Range: $24.81 - $41.27
