You will perform the installation of DataOne's Layer 1 infrastructure solutions that transcend our client's expectations as a Level 2 or 3 Technician.

Provides installation services for power and data cabling jobs as assigned. May be required to act as a lead on installations or as part of a crew on projects where other technicians are functioning as the lead.

Essential Job Functions

Central Office Technician Level 2

  • Have a minimum of 1-1/2 years' experience, or documented equivalent proficiency, as determined by the Installation Supplier

  • Basic knowledge of Telcordia Standards

  • Addition or removal of non-powered or passive equipment

  • Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non- working equipment only and switchboard cable only)

  • Equivalent proficiency, as determined by the Installation Supplier.

Central Office Technician Level 3

  • Have a minimum of 4 years' experience, or equivalent as determined by the Installation supplier and demonstrated in the equipment system/environment (e.g. common systems, switch, transport, power) being worked on

  • Be capable of performing the following work operations/job activities without supervision

    • Addition or removal of common systems equipment/hardware

    • Addition or removal of wiring and connections (on non- working equipment only)

    • Lead verification

    • Analysis of job specifications and drawings

    • Provide work assignments to crew

    • Prepare the forms associated with the install

    • Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems

    • Correct office record drawings

    • In-process and final quality inspections

    • Able to communicate with customer on all aspects of the job throughout the duration of the job

    • Be capable of performing as the Installation Supplier's in-charge person on jobs not specifically restricted to having a Level 4 person in charge

Work Environment

May be required to work in a raised floor environment. Must be able to work on ladders. Must be able to lift equipment to place into racks. Equipment can weigh up to 50lbs or more. May be required to work in small crawl spaces and/or shaft ways. May be required to work in facility manholes. May be required to hand dig or trench outside. May be required to work on top of buildings. Must maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage, staging and work areas on-site.

Operations and Location

Hours of work may vary from week to week, including night work. Overtime may be required on short or no notice as deemed necessary by Management. Required to travel for jobs deemed necessary by management.

Pay Range

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour.

A valid driver's license is required, and you must pass a pre-employment motor vehicle report demonstrating a clean driving record. You must pass a background and drug screening.
