Job Summary

TheCorrosion Technicianis responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining corrosion control systems to protect structures such as pipelines, tanks, and other infrastructure from degradation. This role involves performing field inspections, collecting data, conducting tests, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, monitor, and maintain cathodic protection systems (e.g., impressed current and galvanic systems).
  • Conduct pipeline and facility inspections for signs of corrosion and coating deterioration.
  • Perform close-interval surveys (CIS), direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) surveys, and other diagnostic testing.
  • Record and analyze corrosion data, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in internal and external corrosion control programs including chemical treatment monitoring and mitigation.
  • Calibrate and maintain corrosion monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes (e.g., NACE, DOT, API) and company policies.
  • Support pipeline integrity management and risk assessment activities.
  • Work closely with engineers, field personnel, and third-party contractors.


Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED (required); associates degree or technical certification in corrosion, materials science, or related field (preferred).
  • NACE certification (e.g., CP1, CP2, or CIP) is highly desirable.
  • 2+ years of relevant field experience in corrosion prevention or cathodic protection.
  • Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms and mitigation techniques.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and maps (e.g., pipeline alignment sheets).
  • Proficiency with corrosion testing equipment and data logging tools.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to field sites.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in remote areas and travel frequently.
